The Food Of Love
I have been part of several celebrations over the past few weeks. It has been an absolute privilege to be part of them. Each one had music playing.
There have been several protests around the world recently as people are fighting for a better world and a better life. Each on had music playing (even if that music was their own voices)
There have been vigils around the world as people come together to support each other in hard and tragic times. Each one had music playing (either in the background or sung together)
I have been to a few funerals of late, celebrating the life and love of those who had passed. Each one had music playing.
Music has always been an important part of my life. So many songs trigger memories I thought I had lost. So many songs remind me of special people and moments in my life. So many songs lift my heart with joy.
Shakespeare got it so right in his play, 12th Night. “If music be the food of love, play on.”
When you need some love to deal with the pressure of work, the failings of the world, to consider your future, or to just feel better, get out those songs that give you joy and love.
Play them.
Play them loud.
Play them often.
Play on!
