This is A Healthy Sign for Events!

Melbourne Rocked with Events on Saturday Night.

I was thrilled to join 10,000 friends at the Hill Top Hoods concert. Just over the train track, 90,000 people watched AFL at the MCG. And next door to both of us, an estimated 20,000 watched the NRL at AAMI Stadium.

As an Event Professional it is great to see such events back and thumping!

As someone who knows what is going on behind the scene, it is great to see the professionals in action. The guy in the picture top right is Paul Owen. He is a legend in the lighting scene and has done some amazing gigs in his time. The couple next to him are his proud parents!! His mum is a friend of mine and through her I have been able to have some great conversations with him to the point I now consider him a friend.

He did amazing things on the night. The light display was superb, his timing and how he hit key cues was magnificent. He, and the rest of the HTH crew were so thrilled to be back at it again.

As I am sure all the riggers, roadies, sound crew, AV, security, and even those on the retail booths selling the merch, food and beverages.

Make no mistake, ALL aspects of the events industry were smashed during covid. So many good people left and will not come back. So many brilliant people somehow stuck it out and are now, gratefully back sharing their craft.

THANK YOU!

Thank you to all of you amazing Event Industry people who have done what it takes to stay a float, who remained committed and did what you have to do to finally return to it. We still have a long way to go. Our audiences still need more confidence to return and attend as they once did.

120,000 in one city on one night is a damn good sign!
